Poland have disposed of Sweden in the first semi-final to move on to the grand final after a 2-1 victory (de_cbble 14-16, de_train 16-7, de_dust2 16-10).
After an issue-filled yesterday, the first semi-final faceoff between Poland and Sweden went mostly smoothly after a small delay towards the beginning.
Sweden started as Terrorists on Cobblestone and quickly got off to a flying 6-3 start after picking up the pistol round and trading three for three afterwards.
Poland started rotating much quicker afterwards, which paid off seeing as Sweden were in no rush to start faking, and equalized map one at 6-6 before Markus "pronax" Wallsten's squad took over again in the last three rounds.
A three-round lead was extended to five after yet another pistol round going in Sweden's favor, but Grzegorz "SZPERO" Dziamałek stopped the rot with a much-needed triple entry towards B.
Sweden escaped Cobblestone by the skin of their teeth
Two ecos and a B swarm afterwards, Poland were only a round behind, just before Richard "Xizt" Landström and Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg combined for an ace on the B defense. Piotr "peet" Ćwikliński's team was also unable to convert a 3-on-2 afterplant and were staring down the barrel at 10-14.
In the end, two for one twice was not enough for Poland to turn it around and Sweden took the series lead at 16-14.
Poland winning the Terrorist-side pistol on de_train was for naught as Sweden replied in the forcebuy for 3-1, but their gunround attacks started to penetrate the defense without much issues.
Devilwalk's ninja defuse in a 1-on-1 was the only round his team won out of the next six before Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi got his team to six thanks to an ace in an unfavorable situation.
With a 9-6 halftime score, Poland were happy to take the second pistol as well as two gunrounds afterwards, with SZPERO sitting at 24-9 at 14-6. Another triple by the Pole took Poland to match point, which was two rounds afterwards converted into a tie in the series at 16-7, 1-1.
SZPERO had a massive performance on de_train
de_dust2 followed as the decider with Poland yet again taking the pistol for themselves, this time surviving the second-round eco for 2-0, only for Sweden to pull it back together for 2-2.
Four following rounds were split evenly, and Poland survived a scary eco and a forcebuy for 6-4. Xizt then opened up the B bombsite with two entries, which kicked off a streak of five rounds in his team's favor for 6-9.
Poland then fended off a 1-on-3 threat from pyth after a chaotic turn of events, same as both following ecos and two more buys coupled with ecos. pronax's triple with an AWP on platform was negated by peet's triple to ruin the day for the Swedes.
It was at 13-9 when Sweden finally got on the board thanks to another successful entry fragging by Xizt, who picked up the AWP on long for 13-10, but it was all for naught as Poland stormed onto a 16-10 victory to make it to the grand final.
